How Peoria calculates your permit fee
The city charges a building permit fee using a fee table based on project value (a flat $0.00 below $5,000).
The fee table
Residential, all permit types
| Project value | Fee |
|---|---|
| Over $0 | $8.00 per $1,000 or fraction |
Commercial, all permit types
| Project value | Fee |
|---|---|
| $1 – $5,000,000 | $9.00 per $1,000 or fraction |
| Over $5,000,000 | $45,000.00 for the first $5,000,000 + $2.00 per additional $1,000 or fraction |
What counts as project value
Your contract or bid price. Fees are a multiple of the construction cost ('Construction Cost x .008'), with the cost of construction rounded up to the next $1,000. The schedule does not say how construction cost is verified.
Worked example: a $350,000 new home
- Building permit fee: $0.00 for the first $0.00 + $8.00 × 350 per $1,000.00 over = $2,800.00
- Total before trade permits: $2,800.00.
