How Joliet calculates your permit fee
The city charges a building permit fee using $10.00 per $1,000 of project value (a flat $65.00 below $7,000.01), with a $65.00 minimum. Electrical, plumbing and mechanical work gets its own permits.
The fee table
$10.00 per $1,000 of project value (a flat $65.00 below $7,000.01), with a $65.00 minimum.
What counts as project value
Your contract or bid price. The estimated value of construction should include all labor and material costs (applicant-stated construction value).
Worked example: a $75,000 addition
- Building permit fee: $75,000.00 ÷ 1,000 × $10.00 = $750.00
- Total before trade permits: $750.00.
