The county charges a building permit fee using a fee table based on project value, plus a $43.00 application fee, with a $86.00 minimum. Electrical, plumbing and mechanical work gets its own permits.

What counts as project value
Higher of your bid or the valuation table. Fee is based on the estimated value of work (fair market value of all construction incl. electrical, plumbing, permanent equipment; excludes land and development cost). For new buildings the minimum acceptable valuation is the BOCA Building Evaluation Data Report as provided by the Department.
Worked example: a $350,000 new home
- Building permit fee: $242.00 for the first $25,000.00 + $10.00 × 325 per $1,000.00 over = $3,492.00
- Application fee: fixed = $43.00
- Total before trade permits: $3,535.00.

Trade permits are separate. Electrical: $43 application fee plus amperage/device-based fee, e.g. new single-family dwelling 200 amps or less $147; residential additions/alterations without service change $95. Plumbing: $43 application fee; new detached single family dwelling $173; additions/reconstruction first fixture $51 plus $8 each additional fixture. Mechanical: $43 application fee; residential heating and air conditioning $121, heating or A/C alone $95, replacement system $51.
