BuildingPermitCost How Volusia County calculates your permit fee
The county charges a building permit fee using a fee table based on project value, with a $60.34 minimum. Plan review is a separate charge: its own fee table. Electrical, plumbing and mechanical work gets its own permits.

Worked example: a $350,000 new home
- Building permit fee: $726.15 for the first $100,000.00 + $3.98 × 250 per $1,000.00 over = $1,721.15
- Plan review fee: $130.75 for the first $150,000.00 + $30.13 × 4 per $50,000.00 over = $251.27
- Total before trade permits: $1,972.42.

Trade permits are separate. Electrical: Minimum $60.34; new/increased service $0.78 per ampere increase (single phase); alterations $10.04 per circuit for first ten, $1.96 each additional. Plumbing: Minimum $60.34 plus $3.98 per fixture/appliance connected. Mechanical: Valuation table: $60.34 up to $1,000; $60.34 + $8.05 per additional thousand to $25,000; $253.45 + $5.16 per additional thousand above $25,000.
