How Grand Prairie calculates your permit fee
The city charges a building permit fee using a flat $1,000.00. Plan review is a separate charge: a flat $100.00. Electrical, plumbing and mechanical work gets its own permits.
The fee table
New single family or two-family (duplex) dwelling
A flat $1,000.00.
Residential remodel, additions, rehabilitation
$0.25 per square foot and a $1,000.00 maximum.
New commercial (finished)
$0.28 per square foot.
Commercial, non-dwelling remodel, additions, rehabilitation
$0.28 per square foot.
What counts as project value
Floor area (square feet). New single-family/duplex dwellings pay a flat fee; remodels, additions and commercial work are priced per square foot. The stated dollar value of work is used for reporting: 'the present best estimate of the total market value'. Commercial fences and re-roofs are 1% of value.

- Building permit fee: flat fee = $1,000.00
