How Mansfield calculates your permit fee
The city charges a building permit fee using $0.60 per square foot. Plan review is a separate charge: a flat $100.00.
The fee table
One- and two-family dwellings incl. townhomes
$0.60 per square foot.
Commercial, retail, assembly, business, educational, institutional, mercantile: new structures and additions
$0.75 per square foot.
Non-residential remodels, interior finishes, repairs, alterations
2.5% of project value, with a $125.00 minimum.
What counts as project value
Floor area (square feet). Residential permit fees are per square foot of the entire structure under roof. Valuation (total value of all construction work incl. finish, MEP and permanent equipment) is used only for non-residential remodels/alterations (2.5% of valuation).
Worked example: a $350,000 new home
- Building permit fee: 2,400 sq ft × $0.60 = $1,440.00
- Plan review fee: flat = $100.00
- Total before trade permits: $1,540.00.
