BuildingPermitCost How Commerce City calculates your permit fee
The city charges a building permit fee using a fee table based on project value, with a $30.41 minimum. Plan review is a separate charge: 65% of the permit fee.

What counts as project value
Your contract or bid price. Applicant states the estimated permit value; 'Permit valuations shall include total value of all work including materials, equipment and labor (total cost of construction)'. The same value is the base for the use tax deposit.
Worked example: a $350,000 new home
- Building permit fee: $1,285.10 for the first $100,000.00 + $7.25 × 250 per $1,000.00 over = $3,097.60
- Plan review fee: 65% of $3,097.60 = $2,013.44
- Total before trade permits: $5,111.04.
