How St. Louis calculates your permit fee
The city charges a building permit fee using a fee table based on project value, plus a $25.00 application fee, with a $19.00 minimum.
The fee table
| Project value | Fee |
|---|---|
| $1 – $1,000 | $19.00 |
| $1,001 – $2,000 | $23.00 |
| $2,001 – $3,000 | $30.00 |
| Over $3,000 | $30.00 for the first $3,000 + $10.00 per additional $1,000 or fraction |
Plus an application fee of $25.00.
What counts as project value
Your contract or bid price. Fees are based on total estimated project (construction) cost as stated on the application; the page does not describe a valuation table or review of the estimate.
Worked example: a $350,000 new home
- Building permit fee: $30.00 for the first $3,000.00 + $10.00 × 347 per $1,000.00 over = $3,500.00
- Application fee: fixed = $25.00
- Total before trade permits: $3,525.00.
