How Boise calculates your permit fee
The city charges a building permit fee using a fee table based on project value. Plan review is a separate charge: 20% of the permit fee. Electrical, plumbing and mechanical work gets its own permits.
The fee table
| Project value | Fee |
|---|---|
| $1 – $500 | $26.37 |
| $501 – $2,000 | $26.37 for the first $500 + $2.95 per additional $100 or fraction |
| $2,001 – $25,000 | $70.76 for the first $2,000 + $12.71 per additional $1,000 or fraction |
| $25,001 – $50,000 | $362.80 for the first $25,000 + $9.30 per additional $1,000 or fraction |
| $50,001 – $100,000 | $595.30 for the first $50,000 + $6.35 per additional $1,000 or fraction |
| Over $100,000 | $913.09 for the first $100,000 + $5.17 per additional $1,000 or fraction |
What counts as project value
Not stated in the schedule. Table No. 1-A is based on 'TOTAL VALUATION'; the schedule does not say how valuation is determined. Commercial solar PV: valuation halved before applying Table 1-A. Commercial Grading & Drainage with Utilities: Table 1-A on 50% of total valuation.
Worked example: a $350,000 new home
- Building permit fee: $913.09 for the first $100,000.00 + $5.17 × 250 per $1,000.00 over = $2,205.59
- Plan review fee: 20% of $2,205.59 = $441.12
- Total before trade permits: $2,646.71.
