How Manchester calculates your permit fee
The city charges a building permit fee using 0.6% of project value, plus a $25.00 application fee.
The fee table
New construction, 1 & 2 family dwellings
0.6% of project value, plus a $25.00 application fee.
Additions to existing buildings and structures (incl. decks, sheds, pools)
1% of project value, plus a $25.00 application fee.
Alterations, renovations or repairs (incl. siding, windows, roofing)
1% of project value, plus a $25.00 application fee.
All other new construction (commercial & multi-family)
1% of project value, plus a $25.00 application fee.
What counts as project value
Your contract or bid price. Building permit fees are the estimated cost of the work multiplied by a rate (.006 or .01).
Worked example: a $350,000 new home
- Building permit fee: 0.6% of $350,000.00 = $2,100.00
- Application fee: fixed = $25.00
- Total before trade permits: $2,125.00.
